Cipher Wing of DCPW was established in 1966 primarily for “Providing cipher cover to the Classified Messages”.

In order to discharge its prime responsibility of providing Cipher cover to Classified Police Communications. This Cipher Wing of DCPW undertakes the following main activities through its Sections.

Central Distributing Authority (CDA)

-Providing required cipher documents, system to all Cipher users i.e State & UT Police Organisations.

-Keeping account of each document.

- Enforcing Cryptographic rules, regulation, Policy and Procedure among all Ciper users.

-Development of Ciper System for Police Users.

-Operates Crypto Centres at ISPW Stations located at State/UT Capital for providing Cipher Cover to inter state Classified Messages.

-Operates Control Crypto Centres for providing Cipher Covers to Centre-State Classified messages.

 Control Crypto-Centre (CC)

-Important required Training to Police personnel’s all Cipher users Organisation.

-Providing required assistance/expertise to All States /UTs Police Organisation in conducting Training Programme In Cipher.

-Conducting Training Programme in Cipher.

-Conducting Training Programme for Sr.Police Officers of all States/Uts.
